Marks are everything. Period.

On 23rd of May, the class 12th results of CBSE were announced in India. Many were exceedingly happy, some were just glad to pass. For a few, all hell broke loose.

In India, competition is so much that a difference of half a mark can make or ruin a life. There’s an acute shortage of institutions of higher education. Only the so called “intelligent” students can make it to good universities. Who, by the way are these intelligent students? Those fuckers who get 91% are intelligent. Those who get 89% are automatically labelled “average”.

Can an exam which involves humongous amount of cramming be the judge of the quality of a mind? Hell, these fucking exams can’t even measure the fucking IQ of a person! Right? Agreed with me until now? Good.

Try explaining this to those nerdy assholes who commit suicide – yes, suicide – because they failed, or got less marks. Try explaining this to those parents who curse their child because he failed to get 90% marks. Tell this to those teachers who call 90-percenters “intelligent” and worthy of praise. Class 10th results are on 27th of May, and they’ll bring even bigger shocks.

Don’t you guys think the education system should be altered a bit? For example, there should be more weightage to practicals than to the theory. Students should be asked to research on the given topics and present reports. The tests should include questions that involve thinking instead of just merely “knowing” the answer. Government of India : Closing All Doors

You want to live peacefully with a comfortable income and a roof over your head which you can call your own. You want to have full participation in the decision making processes of the government. You want your voice to be heard, and your opinions taken seriously. You want to do all that while living in your motherland, India. Right? Well, forget it.

First the government imposed the stupid reservations, then they beat up the protesters. Peaceful protesters. Then they threatened to throw the protesting doctors out of the government owned hostels and now, finally, they've closed all ears to the pleas of the people and imposed 27% reservations in higher education for OBCs. Not only that, they've even imposed 25% reservations in schools. Merit does not count anymore. What counts is your caste and your race. Is this democracy?

Before this, the government tried to seal all shops in Delhi which they claimed have stolen the government land. Some of these shops are over 20 years old! That means they've been sleeping all these years, haven't they? To top it off, they didn't listen to all the protesters who were rendered homeless or jobless thanks to the government's "law enforcement" measures. Now they've decided to give the people living or working on illegal land one year to evacuate.

But the government is not that bad. It does listen to the people. If it didn't listen to a couple of hundered old people – all Christians – from the small state of Goa who don't represent even 1% of the population of India, would the Da Vinci Code been rated "A"? No. We owe a big thanks to the government for that. Thank you for destroying art. All hail the Indian government.

50 years of Independence, and the government still doesn't respect the people. All they need is more money, to feed their over aged bellies. Even the British colonial rule was better than this. At least the British were more forward looking. The future for India is dark, very dark.

Please send this page to all the people you know, especially those living outside India. Warn them not to come to this infernal hell, and remind the Indians that they are nothing but slaves to some fucking old men.

PS : I probably shouldn't insult my own country, but who the fuck can stop me? I'm infuriated, dammit. 

Firefox Myths

Debunking some myths about Mozilla Firefox, here.

Now let me debunk some of these debunked myths -

1. IE has lower system requirements than Firefox.
Reason – hidden APIs in Windows.

2. IE is faster than Firefox.
Reason – IE has a different way of communicating with the server. Non standard ways which put stress on servers. And a tweaked version of Firefox is clearly faster.

3. Firefox has lots of vulnerabilities.
Answer – Yes. But they are fixed within hours.

4. Firefox vulnerabilities aren’t fixed withing hours.
Answer – The website points out just 2. What about the millions of IE vulnerabilities?

But there are very interesting myths on this site. For example, did you know that the famous Firefox “memory leak” is actually a “feature”? Did you know that even Firefox is not fully W3C compliant?

Then there’s a link to something called the “acid test”. Run the test to find out if your browser is fully W3C compliant or not. Opera seems to pass it, while Firefox fails.

Also, there’s a myth about “progressive rendering”. Progressive rendering means rendering content as it arrives. Firefox renders pages as they’re downloaded, and so does Opera. The guy who wrote this argues that this makes the browser feel clunky and unprofessional. I completely agree. IE has a better feel to it while rendering pages.

In the end, it seems that IE isn’t as worthless as we believe, Firefox isn’t all that good and Opera reigns supreme. Cheers to whoever wrote the article.

BlueSecurity dead

BlueSecurity, the company that tried bravely to kill spam is dead, thanks to a DOS attack by a crazy bone headed spammer.

It used to work like this – you installed a browser extension and gave your email address to the BlueSecurity guys. They spread it round the web so that spambots pick it up. Whenever you got a spam mail, you just reported it via the extension. Then the BlueSecurity servers bombed the spammer’s account with thousands of mails containing requests to stop spamming. Most spammers gave up.

But when they tried to bomb a particularly shit headed asshole, he used hundereds of “bot” computers to bomb them back. And that was about it.

The Da Vinci Code – resolved

The controversy surrounding the release of the movie the Da Vinci Code has finally been resolved. And you know what decision has been given? That the movie will be released next week and will be a fucking “A” rated movie!

I wonder what’s wrong with this entire country. At the whims of a fucking shit headed minority from a tiny state like Goa, the most anticipated movie of the year has been rated “A” so that a third of the population can’t even go and see it. The biggest irony is that the damned movie doesn’t even have “inappropriate” scenes (a naked dude doesn’t count).

I’m 15 so naturally, I’m infuriated. I can’t see the movie because some old men (who will surely burn in Hell) claim the movie hurts their religious sentiments.

Religious sentiments my butt.

Is Yahoo! so fucking desperate?

If you visit the Yahoo! homepage, you’ll probably come across this -

1. Look for the search box in the upper right corner of your browser.
2. Click on the small triangle in the search box.
3. Choose Yahoo!. You’re done!

Are they so fucking desperate to increase their search engine hits that they actually have to ask their users to choose their engine as default? Man, I’ve never seen a worst marketing strategy. I hope somebody sues them soon for some weird patent or something. I’m sure they’ll be able to find something (after all, Creative is suing Apple for a patent infringement which involves the side scrolling interface of Creative MP3 players, and an infinite number of monkeys, I mean dollars).

The Da Vinci Code shit

I read the newspaper this morning, and as usual it was filled with the same fucking news about people dying and old politicians making new policies to cripple the youth’s future (and I was really infuriated). But one thing that caught my attention was that some damned monkey heads with hot iron in their asses want the release of The Da Vinci Code (the movie) to be cancelled. Fuck them and their stupid ideas. I’m sure they still think that the Earth is the centre of this entire blood-sucking universe. Damn them.

Now the question arises – why can’t these deranged religious assholes come to terms with the changing world? How long has it been since somebody was healed by a “healing touch”? When was the last time somebody walked on water? Well, it was a long time ago, and the only account we have of it is an ancient book which until some time ago used to claim that the Earth is flat and is located at the center of the universe.

So how many of you nerdy kids think that the release should be cancelled?

PS : Somebody please send me a couple of swear words I can spit at those half-naked gorillas who are protesting against this movie.

This is my first attempt at writing a blog, and I must confess this is really infuriating. I mean, what sort of a semi-deranged pig reads these crappy things? Nobody. So what's the point in writing them in the first place? And the most irritating bit of it is that I'm actually enjoying this crazy activity! I think I'm turning into some kind of geeky-nerdy kid, a loner of some sort. Dammit.
